  18.     Look up the reference manual Edn 2, A7.16 Conditional Operator, 3rd
  19. italicised line. It's been around for 17 years that I know of; the former
  20. reference in K&R Edn 1 is A7.13, 2nd italicised line for the pre-ANSI
  21. reference.
